Mind is the main thing which decides our happiness, peace and overall satisfaction level in our life. Even if you have everything in life and your mind is not in your control then you will suffer a lot. That shows the importance of mind control. Mind is like a drunken monkey. Monkey himself is very mischievous, so think how he will behave if he is drunk too. That is the case of mind too. If we allow the mind to do whatever it wants then it will go on like that without any control. If you don’t use your mind properly then your mind will start using you. 

So how to control your mind ? It is not an easy task because we cannot do it forcefully. If you tell your mind to don’t think about a particular thing then your mind will be filled with thoughts about that thing. Mind has always a tendency to negate things. So if you ask your mind to remove thoughts or ask to keep the mind blank it will not work. Problem is we are super identified with mind, you think you are mind. But actually not. 

To control your mind, the first thing you have to do is understand and accept this fact. You are not body or mind. They are accessories to survive in this physical world. You are pure consciousness. Eternal and infinite being. You are part of the same energy which is controlling this vast universe. You are  the master and you have all power to control the mind and body. Problem is now you are like a slave to mind and body. You are supposed to be the master and body and mind are supposed to be slaves. You don’t realize your real power and you are capitulated to the mind and simply obeying it.

So how to come out from this awkward setup ? Best solution is to objectify the mind. Since you are not the mind, you can objectify it. Being a subject you can observe or watch the mind as an object. It is your faculty. Your accessory or instrument. You have full control over it and you can very well decide when to use it and when to keep it idle. Problem is you don’t realize that power. 

So the basic thing is mind management is to start observing the mind. Initially it may be difficult, but slowly you will get adjusted with it. For years we have been hypnotized in that way so to make some changes it will take some time but definitely possible. Thoughts are not necessary for survival. Great Indian mystics learned this art of mind management. Still there are many saints who live in this world and they can sit for hours or days without even a single thought. 

So be with the self and start observing the mind and the body. When the mind loses its power slowly thoughts will reduce. You cannot keep your mind blank for minutes or hours with one or two days practice. It will take time. Practice it regularly. Consistency is the key. When thought comes simply observe and allow it to pass. Don’t get attached to the thought. Don’t try to judge it too. If you keep on doing it gradually thoughts will reduce. You will have full control over the mind and the body. That is the ideal situation. Consciousness is the master. You are consciousness. You have immense power and capacity. Realize your power and take control. Don’t allow the mind to take control and destroy your happiness and peace.
