Brain gets position of head from the three loop-shaped structures (semicircular canals) that contain fluid and fine. Hair-like sensors in this monitor the rotation of your head and pass signals to the brain. When this is obstructed brain fails to understand the position of the head and body. There are many exercises to get rid of from vertigo. You can find many such videos in YouTube and other video sharing sites.
