Help -> Customize ->  General -> Customize - Show Moves

Click on the 'Customize' on the Tools menu. To invoke Customize from the keyboard press Control + U.

Click on the General tab and then click on the "Show Moves" check box.

This will show you the number of moves made on the game window.
